Robert Steele, June 1, 2011

Location Current Proposed
Downtown to All Points West: Santa Cruz Ave at Avy Ave

Existing sign points left: "Santa Cruz Ave".

(Up Arrow) Bicycle Route West
Downtown to All Points West: Avy Ave to Monte Rosa Drive

Is a right turn sign required at Sand Hill Road?.

(Right Arrow) Bicycle Route West
All points west to downtown: Sand Hill Road to Santa Cruz Ave

Bushes have grown too high to see the existing signage. The signage is in very poor repair.

Maintenance (repainting) of existing signage.
All points west to downtown: Santa Cruz Ave at Alameda de las Pulgas

Is the signage to "Santa Cruz Avenue enough?

Should there be additional signage for way finding for downtown?
All points west to downtown: Santa Cruz Ave at the cemetery
San Mateo Drive Bridge to downtown: San Mateo Drive at Middle Ave

The straight path is not very straight. Note the additional San Mateo Drive / Wallea Drive confusion. The neighbors will likely get upset if the signage is not bicycle specific.

(Up Arrow) Bicycle Route Straight to Downtown
San Mateo Drive Bridge to downtown: San Mateo Drive at Santa Cruz Ave
(Right Arrow) to Downtown
Downtown to San Mateo Drive Bridge: Santa Cruz Ave at San Mateo Drive at
Downtown to San Mateo Drive Bridge: San Mateo Drive at Middle Ave

(Up Arrow) Bicycle route to Palo Alto

Notice that there are no convenient existing poles. It is not completely obvious that the bridge to Palo Alto is ahead.

Alma Bridge to Downtown: Alma Ave

There is no existing signage for downtown.

Add a wayfinding sign to the existing bike lane marker post: (Up Arrow) to downtown.
Alma Ave to Downtown: Alma Ave at Ravenswood Ave

There is no existing signage for downtown. Is this close enough to go unsigned?

?
Willow Place Bridge to Downtown: Willow Place at Willow Road

The tree near the stop sign blocks the existing signage to downtown? Can it be moved? Note that the north/south route is well marked.

Move/replace the existing downtown sign to the county signage pole prior to the tree.
Willow Road to Downtown: Willow Road at Alma Ave

The Alma bridge to Palo Alto is well marked. Is the "El Camino Real" sign at the far end of the intersection enough to get anyone to downtown?

Remove the El Camino sign and add a right turn to downtown on the Alma bridge sign post.
Alma Ave to Palo Alto: Alma Ave at Willow Road

Willow Road entrance to this intersection has signage for the bike bridge but the Alma Ave does not.

(Up Arrow) to Palto Alto Bicycle Bridge
